We enjoy our visits to Huckleberry [Swamp] at least once-a-week...we live about .7 of a mile away on Catchpole/Brick Schoolhouse Rd. Last week we saw yellow warblers, American Redstarts, orioles, little green heron, and heard the "noisy" Great Blue Herons feeding their young (to the south of the boardwalk--viewable before the leaves are out on the trees). On one of our early Spring visits we saw a Sora (rail). What a wonderful nature trail!!!  We would like to find out how to get additional T-shirts (like the ones we got at the grand opening of Huckleberry [Swamp]) and we also would like to know how to contribute to the continuation of your good work.

Events:

Huckleberry Swamp is closed for the Winter.   Please check back as the weather clears up closer to Spring.  After post-Winter clean up, we'd love to see our winged and bipedal visitors return.

At that time, please come by and enjoy all the plants and wildlife that Spring at Huckleberry Swamp has to offer.  If you have a group that is interested in an educational venture to Huckleberry Swamp, please contact Margarita for information by email or phone (585-338-1820).

Huckleberry Swamp Grand Opening was a success!

Date: Friday, October 4th, 2002

Time: 2-4 p.m.

This was a by-invitation event celebrating some of the region's finest birds, reptiles and amphibians.  Those attending enjoyed a special presentation by environmental educator and founder of Friends with Feathers, Ron Walker, and experienced nature's wonderful sights and sounds while taking the first guided tour through Huckleberry Swamp.
